Robots give birth and falling ice continues to baffle scientists

Could it be global warming? Pissed off Plutonian's? Or just big-ass hail? Theories are bouncing around, some which could easily be answered with some data from the FAA, and what kinda annoys me is that journalists, and people like me, who use terms like "baffle", "perplexes", and "dumbfounded" as the states in which scientists are in right now kind of create an aura around scientists as being slow-witted. But if an assertive and decisive scientist takes one glance at this phenomenon and says it's large hail and turns out to be wrong, it's ammunition against science as being the end-all presitgious effect of rationalism. And if they don't immediately give an answer then they are "baffled" by the phenonmen and it's ammunition against science as being adequate enough to explain the natural world. They are damned if they do and they are damned if they don't.

I garantee you we won't be seeing an article which says "Hey remember those two ice balls that fell into the bay area a few months ago? Well some scientists figured out why it happened." Why? Because newspaper editors don't think people care or have an attention span about current events longer than a day.
